17 years ago Mary Nunis  and Fred Rodgers were in Palm Desert, CA, where Mary and her husband owned a home.  They were shopping for furniture for the home and came across several consignment stores that had products that looked like they came out of a fine furniture showroom.  “The thought came to both of us that Orlando would be a natural market for this type of business,” said Rodgers.  “People here are continually downsizing or upsizing their living areas” because of employment transfers, retirements, health reasons or because they simply want their home to have a “new look.”

On November 6, 1995, Mary Nunis, wife of Dick Nunis – the ex-chairman of Walt Disney Attractions -and Fred Rodgers a retired senior Walt Disney World Interior Designer for 26 years , opened Top Drawer Consignments at 2500 Edgewater Drive in downtown College Park.
